Case Study

Restoring a Wendy's & BP Parking Lot Without Closing for a Single Day

A shared Wendy’s and BP fuel station site in Newark, Ohio, had reached a point where its worn-out parking lot was actually costing them business—potholes and failing pavement were turning customers away. B&C Blacktop stepped in to repave the entire lot while keeping every business on-site open the whole time.

The Challenge

This wasn’t a simple single-tenant parking lot. The site included a BP gas station, a Wendy’s drive-thru, and a Huntington Bank drive-thru ATM, all sharing the same lot and all needing to stay open and accessible to customers throughout the project. On top of that, the parking lot’s pavement had aged out—multiple potholes had developed across the surface, and it was visibly affecting foot and vehicle traffic to the businesses. Customers weren’t coming in like they used to.

The Solution

B&C Blacktop’s crew performed a 2-inch mill across the entire parking lot surface, followed by 2 inches of new asphalt installation, and finished the job with a full restriping of the lot. To keep the BP station, Wendy’s, and the ATM drive-thru all operational throughout, we used the same phased approach that works on our busiest commercial sites: prep crew in first, paving crew following behind, opening and closing sections as we moved through the lot so customers could keep coming and going. The entire project was completed in just three days.
